Ready for Reid!

 Here we are...the nursery is finally complete (minus a few prenatal pics and newborn pics to be added when Reid is here).  My beginning vision was chocolate brown and apple green.  When looking for fabric for the baby quilt I decided to add the blue and orange.  I'm so glad I did because I absolutely LOVE the nursery!  It's just what I imagined and I actually got it all done in time!!  Woo hoo!!  Now we're ready to welcome baby Reid into the family...complete with his own little nest.  And I must say...it's the first completely finished room in the house!  Now back to working on the other rooms :) 

 Monogram bought from Etsy.  And somehow I actually got it on the wall straight without crying!!

 Left over fabric framed to add more color to the room.  The walls are "French Roast" by Sherwin Williams just in case you love the color as much as I do!

 Reid's completed baby quilt!  And I have to say...this is the first quilt I actually get to keep :)  All the other quilts I have done were for nieces and nephews so I only got to enjoy them for a few days before giving them as gifts.  Now back to working on Aiden's quilt and starting one for Max!!

 Another pic of the finished bumper pad.  The boys had to add some sleep friends to the crib for Reid.  Most of these were their sleep friends that they wanted to share with him.  So sweet!

 First time for piecing the back of the quilt.  Left over fabric pieces made a cute design on the back.  So glad I added it so you can see the fabric colors on both sides!This was also my first time making the binding and all :)

A view from the corner by the crib.  As you can see, Brody loves the room too.  He even brought in his orange toy to share with Reid.  Even he picked up on the color theme!!  Good dog Brody!

Pregnancy Update

I've been a bit slack on this blog lately....but for good reason :)  We've been busily getting ready for baby Reid, running to and from t-ball and of course working.  But I am glad to say we finally have all the necessities done and most of the non-necessities done and we are patiently waiting for Reid's arrival.  All is still scheduled for Aug. 31st and to be honest I really hope I make it to that date because I'm good with the plan we have right now.  I'm happy to have the doctor I have and we have everything arranged so I can be home for Aiden's 1st day of kindergarten so even though everyone hopes I go early...I think I would rather be uncomfortable a few more days and be able to celebrate both big events with my boys.  Aiden's 1st day of school and the birth of Reid!!  It's going to be a big week for us!  Emotional to say the least!!

Any funny pregnancy comments??  Of course!!  I get them daily and they just make me laugh...most of them anyways.  So here are a few of my favorite/most absurd comments/situations I've had...

1) I've been asked if someone could 'thump' my belly.  Yes...they meant to 'thump' my belly like a watermelon.  Unfortunately, I'm not a piece of fruit and my belly doesn't make the 'thumping' sound.  Sorry to dissappoint :(

2) One lady argued with me that I was wrong about my due date.  When I told her I had 6 weeks left (a while ago)...she yelled "NO!" and was very adamant that I only had 2 weeks left.  Maybe I should go back to that store and see if she would like to change her answer??

3) While exiting a restaurant two weeks ago an older couple made a VERY exaggerated move as I walk by.  To give me more space.  First of all...I had enough room to begin with.  Second...it's NOT contagious!  And thirdly...the comment of "table for 3..hahahaahah!!"  Wasn't so romantic when Justin and I were trying to have a nice date night...but it did give us something to laugh about! 

4) As my tank top was riding up one day, Max told me that Reid was 'getting GIANT' and was pulling my shirt up!  He was so nice that he pulled my tank top down for me...but it's useless...30 seconds later Reid pulled it right back up!

5) Max also told me one day that my butt was big and to be honest...he's right.  But Aiden was right there to tell me it wasn't.  I'm so lucky at least one of my boys will tell me fibs to make me feel better :)

6) I can't remember the times I've been told I'm having twins, times a tickin and the amazed looks I get when I say how many more weeks I have left. 

But in the end...I'll take them all!  We're so excited to meet our baby boy that silly comments just make me laugh.  2 weeks and 5 days....he'll be here one way or another!  And I'm proud to say while I have gained some padding on my toosh....I have not started swelling!  I completely expected the hot summer to get the best of me...but I really have been blessed with another wonderful pregnancy thus far!  It's not all a walk in the park...I've been in pain the past few weeks...but knowing it's the end is enough to keep me going :)  I can endure anything for a few weeks...women have dealt with much worst so in the end I consider myself one blessed momma :)

Reid's Bumper Pad - Check!!

 So...as we got the bonus room completed I started another baby project.  Reid's bumper pad that will match his quilt :)  Quilt is still in progress...stay tuned for that one!  Anyways...last Sunday I got the bumper pad completed after a few arguments with the sewing machine.  Don't worry...we made up and we're on much better terms now!

 I still have to get the sheets on the bed and all, but I couldn't wait to share my latest creation!!  It's definitely not perfect, but I really doubt Reid will notice :)

Now onto to finishing the quilt and gettng the rest of the nursery projects done!!  We're on a count down!!  Less than 6 weeks left!!  I love you already baby Reid!  Can't wait to meet you!

Proud of My Hubby!!

 So...many of you have heard me talk about how we haven't been able to get the nursery ready because we were finishing our bonus room to have the TV/play room for the boys.  Well....it's finished!!!  I'm so proud of my hubby!  He finished all the work himself (except drywall...we had to hire out for that.  we're not crazy!!)!  He worked so hard on this for our family and I'm just sooo happy to see how proud he is of himself and what a great room it turned out to be.  The boys know it's THEIR room and they love it!  Even before their toys and TV were in there :) 

 Here's a picture from the window looking back into the hallway.  Don't mind the mess in the hallway...it's cleaned up now :)

 So last weekend we had to send time getting the boys toys unpacked and into their new room...which means we needed more storage to be organized!  The boys helped Pap Pap put the toy bins together and had a lot of fun!

Even Brody came to help out!  We still have a little more organizing to do and decorating of course...but the room is done and it's such a great place for family time!  Thanks Justin!  We love it!

My Life...A Mom of All Boys...

So...you may ask "What is it like to be a mother of all boys?".  My answer: It's AWESOME!  I wouldn't change it for anything.  Yes, it's tiring, sometimes frustrating, sometimes embarrassing...but it's always an adventure!  My boys love running errands with me.  I know this sounds odd...but without family near by they have always gone with us.  So they have grown to love our trips to the grocery store, farmers market, toy store and yes...they even go to the quilt shop with me when need be.  So here comes one of the embarrassing moments I have to share...

So, for my latest sewing project (baby bumper pad) I needed a zipper foot for my sewing machine.  On Saturday while daddy worked on laying hardwood floors we were off.  First to Home Depot, then Frogurt (yummo), then Target and last but not least...the quilt shop.  I knew I was treading on thin waters.  How many errands can I really ask of them and all before lunch??  Not to mention it was noon and lunch time was getting over due.  I even made the exact comment to the nice women at the shop while I was getting what I needed.  Anyways...I quickly got my zipper foot and was checking out when the ladies asked me about my due date and whether it was another boy.  Their reaction when I told them yes..."OH...you're going to have your hands full!"  So...right on que I turn to my ever so adorable boys to find out they are behind me with Aiden saying "I'm playing with my weiner!!".  Max of course did not miss a beat and chimed right in with the same phrase and motions! 

Well...let me just say, I wanted to melt into the floor and disappear!  So I laughed it off and quickly told them to stop.  How come they listen to me the first time when I tell them we're going for ice cream, but  not when I tell them to stop "playing with their weiners"?  So we quickly had a mommy-to-son talk and little threaten of time out in the car and we were on our way...after wishing the ladies a lovely day! 

So...I get home to start my sewing project later to find out my new sewing machine came with a stinking zipper foot!!!  What?!  I didn't have to buy one? Could have saved myself the embarrassement?  Ohhhh...but life wouldn't be as fun that way!  I'll just chalk this one up to 'life as a mom of all boys' moment...



Here are my adorable boys on another errand trip the day before.  And no, I did not pose them.  They sat on the bench and asked me to take this picture.  And this is why I don't mind the embarrassing moments...because you have so many more precious moments than the other :)  I'll take my boys and all their 'weiner playing' any day! 

And yes...I WILL have my hands full!

Gum Drop - Check

One more project checked off my list.  Reid's gum drop (made from the Amy Butler pattern) for his nursery is complete!  I've started quilting his quilt, but that will be ongoing for the next few weeks.  Now onto pick out fabric for his bumper pad and start that!  I've never made a bumper pad before...so wish me luck!  I got the bumper pad forms in the mail yesterday so I can't wait to get started!!!  My only problem...which colors to go with??  I'm thinking some more of the orange patterns for the room...any ideas?

Reid Adler Fleming

Well, here we are...26 weeks pregnant!  Hard to believe I'll be heading into the 3rd trimester soon, but then again I look at my belly and can believe it!  It's true what everyone says about your later pregnancies...you definitely show earlier and get bigger sooner.  I can just pray this doesn't mean I will get twice as big by the end...but I'll take it either way...and I promise to try and keep a smile on my face throughout :)

We have officially chosen a name...Reid Adler Fleming.  We went with family names in the past, but decided to choose both names this time.  We have one son named after each side of the family so this time we decided to pick both names so it would be even.  We love it!  And it makes us even more excited to meet him now that we have a name!

Sayings I hear the most during this pregnancy:

1) "Are you sure you only have one in there?"  Yes...there's only one heartbeat, but thank you for your concern :) LOL!  Sure...there's enough activity in there for two babies, but I'm sure we are only having one.  As always...he's just going to be big.  His brothers were 8 lb. 2 oz (Aiden) and 9 lb (Max)...so we can only imagine how big Reid will be.  And I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead so far, so he's right on track with his brothers!

2) "You are going to be so miserable in the hot summer!"  Yes...I am lucky enough to enjoy every bit of August 9 months pregnant!  No, I didn't think about that when we were trying...but I wouldn't change it for anything.  I can take a little swelling in order to get another little handsome prince in the end :) 

3) "3 BOYS!!  Wow...you're brave!"  Well...I'm not sure that brave or crazy is appropriate, but thanks for your well wishes!!  LOL!

4) "So...you'll be trying for #4 to have a girl?"  No!  We are done at 3.  We always planned to have 3, regardless of the gender.  We are 100% thrilled and content to be having a 3rd boy.  Our family will be complete with 6 members (don't forget Brody!).

5) "When are you due?"  Now this one is a very simple and general question for everyone.  But I love the look on everyone's face when I say I still have 13 weeks to go (c-section most likely to be scheduled at 39 weeks).  They look at me like I'm crazy...but rest assured I do know my due date.  Like in question #1, yes I know I always get big...this is no surprise to me :)  I will never forget the comment (and look) I got when I was pregnant with Aiden.  I was at the beach (around 7 months pregnant), and a lady at the shop asked if I was due any day.  When I told her I still had so many weeks to go she looked me up and down (yes...I could see the disgust on her face while she looked me over) and responded with the worst look on her face EVER...."Gonna be a big baby!".  Now...I'm used to the comments by now...I know I get big.  But imagine me during my first pregnancy getting this comment in the middle of public.  I was mortified...until I held my sweet Aiden.  Then I knew I would do it all again and I would get twice as big...in order for him to be a healthy baby boy in my arms.

I'll be sure to post more funny questions as I get them.  And believe me...I don't mind them one bit.  I just laugh...I LOVE BEING PREGNANT!!  It's such a joy and blessing...no matter how little or big you get!
